• Account information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored as a hashed value).
• User-submitted content: Reviews, ratings, gym check-ins, and any other content you submit.
• Usage data: Pages visited, browser type, IP address, and referring URLs — collected automatically via server logs and Google Analytics.
• Location data: If you grant permission, your browser location may be used to center the gym map. We do not store your precise location.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To operate, maintain, and improve the GymScouters service.
• To display your reviews and profile information to other users (subject to your privacy settings).
• To send you notifications you have opted into (e.g., new followers, review activity).
• To analyse aggregate usage patterns and improve site performance.
• We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

3. Third-Party Services

• Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. Google may set cookies and collect usage data. You can opt out via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Google Maps & Places API: Gym location searches and map displays are powered by Google. Your use of these features is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• Heroku (Salesforce): Our hosting provider. Your data is stored on Heroku-managed infrastructure. See Salesforce's Privacy Policy.
• Anthropic (Claude AI): Gym chatbot queries may be sent to Anthropic's API. Do not include personal or sensitive information in chatbot messages. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.

4. Cookies

We use cookies to maintain your login session and to collect aggregate analytics data via Google Analytics. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some site features may not function correctly without them.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account information and submitted content for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. If you request deletion of your account, we will remove your personal information within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required by law.
